Health and Social Care Management - OTHM Level 7
Overview
This qualification is designed to:
- Develop an understanding of policy, management theory and practice in health and social care.
- Teach you how to work as an effective manager in the hospital/social care industry.
- Provide learners with an opportunity to engage with the challenges facing professionals, services users and policy makers in their own country.
- Provide knowledge that underpins the ability to work as an effective manager in the hospitals/social care industry
- Develop and enhance knowledge and skills in the areas of leading change, effective performance, planning and accountability, development and team leadership.
Equivalent to Master’s degrees on RQF
- Proceed to dissertation stage (60 credits)
- Achieve a full Master's program
Entry requirements
Learners must have:

Academic
An honours degree in related subject or UK level 6 diploma or an equivalent overseas qualification.

Age
Learners must be 21 years old or older at the beginning of the course.

Experience
Mature learners (over 21) with management experience must check with us prior to registering.

Language proficiency
Non-native English speakers must demonstrate English language proficiency.
Structure
The completed qualifications consists of:
- 6 Mandatory units
- A combined total of 120 credits
- 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT)
- 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH)

- Health and Social Care Leadership (20 credits)
- Managing People in Health and Social Care (20 credits)
- Managing Finance in Health and Social Care (20 credits)
- Health and Social Care Strategies and Policies (20 credits)
- Leading Change in Health and Social Care (20 credits)
- Research Methods for Healthcare Professionals (20 credits)
Duration
The qualification is delivered through two routes
Both are flexible in their delivery to accommodate part-time and distance learning.
We deliver this qualification either online or face-to-face through lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops etc. You choose the pathway that suits your circumstances.

Assessments
How will you be assessed?
All units within this qualification are internally assessed by us and externally verified by OTHM.
The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by our Assessors.
